A 60-year-old drowned yesterday in Bourg.

At around 5:38 p.m., Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a medical emergency on the 100 block of Presque Isle in Bourg.

When on the scene, deputies were told that the victim was found unresponsive in the waters of Bayou Little Caillou by a relative and that he had died.

Detectives responded and began an investigation and learned that the victim, identified as Joseph Fanguy, 60, was believed to have fallen from the bulkhead behind his home into the water.

Foul play is not suspected in the incident. TPSO is considering the incident an accidental drowning at this time, pending an autopsy by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office.

Acadian Ambulance Service and the Bourg Fire Department also responded to the scene.
