Two suspects are in custody of the Houma Police Department after they were allegedly doing drugs behind a local business.

On July 6 at approximately 11 a.m., HPD responded to a report of two subjects sleeping behind a business in the 9000 block of East Main Street.

Upon arrival, officers located the individuals and identified them as Eric Gipson, 60, and Kathryn Rivet, 35, and both were detained for further investigation.

Officers then found Gipson to be in possession of a syringe that allegedly still contained methamphetamine that was ready to be injected.

After further investigation, authorities also found that Rivet was in possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of heroin.

Officers also learned that Rivet was in possession of a bike that was reported stolen earlier that day.

Gipson is charged with one count of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, as well as an outstanding warrant for failure to appear.

Rivet was charged with one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of heroin and illegal possession of stolen things.

Both suspects were taken to the Terrebonne Parish Jail with no bond yet set.
