The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting, which occurred yesterday afternoon in Thibodaux.

At around 5:45 p.m., deputies were called to the intersection of Ridgefield Road and Carol Street in Thibodaux in reference to possible gunshots having been fired in the area.


Witnesses said a white SUV also allegedly fled the area at a high rate of speed.

Authorities made contact with a witness who heard multiple gunshots and saw several men running away from the area. During a search, authorities found bullet holes on the back side of a residence.

Detectives with the Thibodaux Police Department later responded to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center after learning that a man was being treated for a gunshot wound to the hand.


Through investigation, authorities learned the victim was shot in the area where deputies were originally called on Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities are aggressively seeking information about this crime.
