A Galliano convicted felon is accused of pointing a gun at a victim’s head, then firing several rounds into the rear cab of the victim’s truck during an incident last week.

At around 11:40 p.m. on Aug. 10, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call of a possible shooting in the area of Jermie Charles’ residence in Galliano on West Main Street.

Upon arrival, deputies were unable to find anyone willing to cooperate with the investigation, so they left the area.

The next morning, the alleged victim, who is related to Charles, 28, of Galliano, allegedly called and agreed to cooperate in the investigation, which took detectives back to the area.

Through investigation, detectives learned the victim had arrived at Charles’ residence to speak to him and when he arrived, Charles allegedly aimed a gun at the victim’s head.

Once the victim pushed the barrel off him, Charles allegedly fired several rounds into the rear cab of the victim’s pickup. Detectives said they observed two .22 caliber shell casings inside the vehicle and other evidence that shots were fired into the vehicle.

Detectives made contact with Charles on Friday at his residence.

He was found to have two loaded magazines in his possession with the same caliber rounds found to have been used in the incident.

Authorities also learned that Charles, a convicted felon, had a protective order prohibiting him from possessing a firearm.

Charles was arrested and taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center. He was booked with aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated criminal damage to property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violation of a protective order.

His bond is set at $130,000.
