A 32-year-old Houma man was arrested this weekend after a traffic stop.

On July 19, 2019, at approximately 8 p.m., a Houma Police Department Uniform Patrol Division Officer was patrolling in the 900 block of Daspit Street when the patrol officer observed a Nissan Altima that failed to display a license plate on the vehicle.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the suspect fled on foot into the neighborhood, at which time, the officer used his taser.

The taser did not fully connect with the suspect and he was able to pull the probes and continue running.

The suspect was eventually taken into custody and identified as Travis Williams, 32.

A search of his person was conducted and authorities located promethazine and $2,136 in his possession.

Williams was arrested for failure to display license plate, no insurance, driving with a suspended driver’s license, resisting arrest, possession of a legend drug without a prescription and transactions involving proceeds from CDS.

Williams also had multiple warrants out for his arrest in Lafourche Parish for three counts of contempt of court, illegal possession of stolen things, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, aggravated flight from an officer and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Williams was taken to Chabert Medical Center to be checked on after being tasered. He was then medically cleared and released to be taken to the Terrebonne Jail.

When being taken to the jail, he attempted to slip out of the grip of officers and again attempted to flee on foot while handcuffed.

He was then taken into custody again and brought to the jail without further incident.
