A 63-year-old Galliano man was arrested on Sunday, charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Just before 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to a disturbance at the home of Francis Lee Jr., 63, of Galliano. His home is located on La. Highway 3235.

Upon arrival, deputies said they made contact with Lee, and he was immediately detained.

Detectives arrived and investigation the alleged incident, learning that Lee had been yelling at several individuals inside the residence.

At one point, Lee allegedly brandished a crowbar and threatened to strike three individuals, saying he would kill everyone at the residence.

Authorities said that two adults gathered five children into a bedroom in an attempt to protect them from Lee, who allegedly then retrieved a .22-caliber rifle and fired three rounds.

Authorities on the scene said they recovered the rifle and spent casings from inside the residence.

Lee was arrested and is charged with seven counts of attempted second-degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault.

His bond is set at $170,000.
