A Golden Meadow man was issued his third DWI during Labor Day.

He blew four and a half times above the legal limit at the time of his arrest.

On Monday night at 7:30 p.m., the Golden Meadow Police Department found a vehicle traveling near 70 mph in a 50 mph zone.

The officer activated lights and sirens and initiated a stop and the vehicle slowed, but initially did not stop.

Finally after traveling some distance, the driver pulled over.

Officers identified the driver as Clint Cheramie, 42, of Golden Meadow. Due to the suspicion of impairment, the officer conducted a field sobriety test and Cheramie performed poorly.

The suspect then was taken to the South Lafourche Substation where deputies assisted with the investigation. Cheramie submitted to a breath test and authorities said he blew .364% – more than four and a half times above the legal limit.

Authorities also learned this was his third DWI – the first in 2017 and another in July 2019.

Cheramie was charged with DWI (3rd offense), speeding and resisting an officer. He was released after posting a $150,000 bond.
