A 36-year-old Baton Rouge man is in custody of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office after authorities found guns and drugs in his vehicle during a routine stop.


At around 12:30 a.m. on Monday, authorities conducted a stop on a vehicle along La. Highway 182 in Raceland.

Deputies made contact with the driver, identifying him as Rahmoud Thigpen, 36, of Baton Rouge.

Authorities said they noticed the smell of burnt marijuana coming from the inside his vehicle and during the course of the investigation, Thigpen admitted to having firearms and narcotics in his vehicle.


Authorities conducted a search and found more than 100 MDMA pills, more than 92 grams of marijuana, two Xanax pills, two legend drugs (without a prescription) and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Authorities also found an AR-15 rifle and two pistols with extended magazines in his possession.

Thigpen was arrested and taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center, booked on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and MDMA, as well as possession of Xanax, a legend drug and drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and no license plate light.


Bond is set at $55,550.
