A 31-year-old man is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.

On Aug. 6, the Houma Police Department responded to the complaint and started an investigation.

During that time, it was discovered that an alleged incident had occurred within the 200 block of Jean Ellen. Authorities also learned that the victim and suspect had met several times during a five-month period.

The suspect was identified as Zachary Duplantis, 31, of Jean Ellen.

During investigation, HPD learned that Duplantis took the victim to a local daiquiri shop, but once employees questioned her age, they were asked to leave.

As investigation continued, HPD interviewed the victim and other witnesses and those interviews allowed authorities to get an arrest warrant for Duplantis for carnal knowledge of a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Authorities learned yesterday that Duplantis was at a local business.

When this was discovered, they responded to the business and arrested him without incident on the above-listed charges.
