The Houma Police Department has arrested a 30-year-old Houma man for alleged looting during Hurricane Barry.

On Saturday night at approximately 9 p.m., HPD was called to the 100 block of Roselawn Avenue in reference to a burglary in progress.

The homeowner observed the suspect exiting his residence and immediately relayed a description of him to HPD.


Responding officers quickly located the man and took him into custody without incident. He is identified as Quintrell Welch, 30.

Based on the investigation, officers learned that the suspect stole a Vizio TV and some Craftsmen lawn equipment prior to being spotted by the homeowner.

The suspect is charged with one count of looting.
