A Larose man is in custody of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office after an alleged attempted arson earlier this year.

On Jan. 14 at approximately 9:30 a.m., deputies were called to a disturbance at the home of Glenn Wilson Jr., 27, of Larose, in reference to a call of a disturbance.

When deputies arrived, they heard someone yell to enter the residence from a side door.

Deputies on the scene noticed a strong odor of gasoline outside and inside the residence. They immediately made contact with a handicapped man who said that Wilson was one of his caregivers. They also learned that Wilson had fled prior to deputies’ arrival.

Because of the gasoline smell, the handicapped man was taken from the residence and investigators from the State Fire Marshal were called to investigate a possible attempted arson.

Deputies on the scene continued to investigate the incident and learned that Wilson had been angry with his wife and the handicapped man and he allegedly attacked them both.

He allegedly attempted to strangle the man and struck his wife multiple times in the head and face while in the presence of children.

The other man attempted to call 911, but Wilson grabbed the phone and shattered it.

At the time of the incident, authorities tried to find Wilson, but were unsuccessful. Following the investigation by the Fire Marshal and LPSO, warrants were obtained for Wilson’s arrest.

On Feb. 1, authorities made contact with the suspect in Larose and he was taken into custody on the active warrants.

He is charged with attempted aggravated arson, cruelty to the infirmed, domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, simple criminal damage to property and two counts of contempt of court.

The suspect was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex on a $293,300 bond.
