A Thibodaux man is in the custody of the Thibodaux Police Department after he allegedly punched, whipped and choked a woman that he suspected stole his methamphetamine.

On Jan. 15 at approximately 12:18 p.m., a female victim ran to a home on Sanders Street, telling the homeowner that her boyfriend was trying to kill her.

TPD was alerted and they went to 108 Iris St., where the alleged incident occurred, and took Michael Globe, 43, of 108 Iris St., into immediate custody.

Through investigation, TPD said it learned that earlier that day, Globe allegedly attacked the victim at the home, because he suspected she had stole his methamphetamine.

During the incident, Globe allegedly choked the victim to the point of losing consciousness. TPD says he then bound her, repeatedly punched her and then whipped her with a belt.

Authorities said Globe also put a cord around the victim’s neck and tied the other end to the home’s couch, so that he could go outside and remove security cameras.

During that time, the victim got loose and was able to run for help.

For his alleged role in the incident, Globe is charged with domestic abuse battery involving strangulation, aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon, false imprisonment, obstruction of justice and possession of drug paraphernalia.

His bond is set at $96,000.

Authorities also arrested Eric Henn, 43, of 300 Williams Avenue, at the scene, charging him with possession of methamphetamine.

TPD says Henn was on the scene when authorities arrived, and he dropped a flashlight upon officers’ arrival, trying to kick it away from sight.

When police investigated the flashlight, they noted that suspected methamphetamine was hidden inside the flashlight’s cap, which led to Henn’s arrest.

His bond is set at $5,000.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and more charges may be brought.
