The body of a missing Terrebonne Parish man has been found in Morgan City.

On May 14, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies received a complaint regarding a missing person. A family member of Kirby Courteaux Jr., reported him missing and said they’d not seen him since May 11.

On May 15, TPSO deputies and detectives were patrolling on La. Highway 665 in Montegut when the victim’s vehicle was spotted traveling on Island Road.

TPSO deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle when the driver sped off at a high rate of speed, attempting to elude deputies.

During the course of the chase, the driver drove the vehicle off the highway and into a wooded area in the 2300 block of La. Highway 665 where he abandoned the vehicle. Authorites then tracked him down on foot and apprehended him, identifying the man as Terance Dupre, 22, of Montegut.

Dupre was taken to the TPSO headquarters where the investigation continued.

After further investigation, detectives with TPSO and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office discovered that Courteaux was killed in Lafourche Parish and that his body was in Morgan City.

Authorities recovered his remains with the help of the Morgan City Police Department.

TPSO says that it will continue to assist LPSO with this investigation.
