The Houma Police Department has made arrests regarding a shooting on January 29 on Goaux Avenue.

Houma Police responded to a shooting within the 100 block of Gouaux Avenue, January 29, around 3 p.m. During the investigation, it was reported that a 22-year-old female was involved in an altercation with her live-in boyfriend, Gionavvi Kenny, 22 years old.

Officers learned as the altercation continued, Kenny brandished a weapon, made several threats to the victim that he was going to kill her and fired the weapon in her direction nearly striking her, and several other family members. Afterwards, Kenny contacted a friend to pick him up and departed the area.

Investigators learned the description of the vehicle, observed it traveling on Prospect and attempted a traffic stop. While doing so, the driver, who was later identified as Dyon Sewire, refused to stop which led officers on a brief pursuit within the Village East area.

When the pursuit concluded, officers apprehended Sewire, and a foot pursuit took place with Kenny. He was later apprehended inside a residence within the 3600 block of Thomas Drive. Officers were able to recover a semi-automatic pistol which was used in the incident.

As a result of this investigation, Kenny was arrested for three counts Attempted Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, Obstruction of Justice and Flight from an Officer. Sewire was arrested for Flight from an Officer and Obstruction of Justice.
