A 36-year-old Raceland man is in custody of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, charged with rape and battery, among other offenses.

Just before 11 p.m. on Dec. 7, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at the residence of Mark Kraemer, 36, of Bayou Folse Road, Raceland.

Upon arrival, authorities made contact with Kraemer and a woman whom deputies learned had been dating the suspect.

Deputies learned that Kraemer had committed a battery on the victim that night and during an argument.

Following an investigation, Kraemer was arrested and taken into custody on charges of second-degree battery and battery of a dating partner. He was released on Sunday after posting a $20,000 bond.

But investigators continued the case and further investigation yielded that Kraemer allegedly forced the woman to have sexual intercourse at gunpoint and didn’t allow her to leave the residence for several days.

This led investigators to obtain a warrant for Kraemer and he was arrested approximately three hours after he bonded out of jail.

He faces new charges of first-degree rape and false imprisonment – offender armed with dangerous weapon.

His bond is set at $300,000.
