A Raceland man was arrested on Monday night, charged with his fourth DWI, as well as several other drug-related offenses.
Around 8:30 p.m. on Monday night, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Bowie Road in Raceland.
Authorities made contact with the driver, identifying him as Wilfred Harris, of Raceland.
Authorities observed the odor of marijuana inside of the vehicle, so a K-9 unit was called to the scene, which alerted authorities of the possible presence of narcotics inside of the vehicle.
During a search, deputies located seven small bags containing suspected marijuana. Harris also had 45 doses of MDMA and 35 doses of hydrocodone in his possession, as well as small amounts of cocaine and crack cocaine.
While speaking to deputies, the suspect allegedly admitted to smoking marijuana and consuming alcohol prior to driving. He also performed poorly on a field sobriety test. Blood was drawn from the suspect for analysis and results are pending.
Authorities learned during the stop that Harris was arrested for his third DWI on June 1 and he was supposed to have an interlock device inside his vehicle, but there was none.
He also had a temporary license plate that was improperly displayed.
Harris was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux on charges of DWI (4th offense) and possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, MDMA and Hydrocodone.
He was also charged with possession of cocaine and crack cocaine, as well as no required ignition interlock device and improper display of a temporary license plate.
Bond is set at $103,850.
