A 17-year-old Raceland teenager is charged with attempted murder after he shot a 15-year-old following an argument.

Terrebonne Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said that at around 4:28 p.m. yesterday, a TPSO patrol unit responded to a report of a person acting suspiciously in the vicinity of West Park Avenue on the 4000 block.

The deputy encountered the suspect, Jakareyon Raymond, 17, of Raceland. The deputy spoke to the suspect.

At the same time, a report was received that a 15-year-old was taken to a local hospital with gunshot wounds.

Deputies developed information indicating that Raymond had shot the other teen. He was arrested and transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice complex.

Jakareyon Raymond was booked for attempted second degree murder, illegal carrying of weapons and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile. The investigation into this matter continues.
