A 30-year-old man was shot and killed last night in Houma.

A grand jury will decide in the future what – if any –  criminal charges will be brought in the incident after 3 were taken into custody and questioned and it was learned that the man killed was an aggressor in the incident.

Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said that on Aug. 3, 2019, at approximately 2:15 a.m., deputies were called to the 600 block of Corporate Drive in Houma in reference to a shooting.

Deputies arrived at the location and found that a 30-year-old man had been shot.

Acadian Ambulance treated the man on the scene before Air Med transported him to an out of area hospital.

Later this morning, the man, Andrew Naquin, of Houma, was pronounced dead.

During investigation, deputies learned that after Vino’s Night Club closed on Friday, there were multiple people hanging out in the parking lots when a fight occurred that escalated into a shooting.

Immediately afterwards, the suspects jumped into a silver Dodge Charger and fled the scene.

Deputies obtained a description of the suspect’s vehicle and it was relayed over police radio.

An off-duty deputy working security at a Casino on La. Highway 20 observed the vehicle traveling north on La. 20. The deputy followed the suspect and conducted a traffic stop.

Three suspects were taken into custody without incident and were taken to the Sheriff’s Office where they were questioned by detectives.

The names of those suspects were not released to the press.

Authorities say the man who was killed in the shooting, along with another man, were the aggressors in the altercation.

Detectives consulted with the District Attorney’s Office regarding bringing the case before the grand jury.
