A 26-year-old Labadieville man is in custody of the Thibodaux Police Department after he allegedly broke into his girlfriend’s car and stole multiple items.

On July 6, 2019, shortly after 4 p.m., TPD officers were called to a vehicle burglary that occurred in the 100 block of Laura Drive.

Upon arrival, officers learned from witnesses that Todd Scott, had forced his way into his girlfriend’s car and stole multiple items from the interior.

Scott fled the scene and was later seen in the area driving erratically by police.

Upon attempting to stop the suspect for the reckless driving, he initially stopped, but then fled again before police could make contact.

When leading police on a brief vehicle pursuit, the suspect failed to obey several traffic control devices, which eventually caused him to crash into another vehicle at the intersection of La. Highway 1 and Audubon Avenue.

The suspect was taken into custody and found to be in possession of multiple stolen items from the burglary.

Scott was booked and charged with disturbing the peace, simple burglary, simple criminal damage to property, theft, stop sign violation and aggravated flight from an officer.

Bond is set at $65,600.
