A 23-year-old Houma man is in custody of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office after he allegedly attacked and pulled a knife on a couple who were letting him stay in their home.

At 6:30 a.m. on on Jan. 20, deputies were called to 220 Idlewild Drive in Houma in reference to a disturbance.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the residents of the home who were involved in the altercation.

The suspect in the case was quickly identified as Ellis Dardar, 23, of 220 Idlewild Drive, Houma.

The homeowners in the case said they learned that Dardar was living at a house without electricity so they asked him to stay with them for a few days.

On the morning of the alleged incident, the home owner told Dardar that he had to move out of the resident. He allegedly became upset and started destroying things in the house.

The owner said that Dardar pushed the stove through the kitchen wall and pulled the refrigerator from the wall, causing the waterline to break.

Authorities said there was water on the floor throughout the entire kitchen when they arrived.

During the altercation, authorities said Dardar also punched the homeowners and threatened them with a knife.

After the suspect was placed into handcuffs, he allegedly threw himself on the ground and deputies struggled with him to bring him back to his feet.

Dardar is charged with simple criminal damage to property over $1,000, domestic abuse battery, simple battery, aggravated assault, disturbing the peace and resisting an officer.

When taken to jail, authorities found some marijuana in his possession, which led to a charge for that, as well.

He also had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court.

Dardar is held on an $87,500 bond.
