A 26-year-old Houma native is in the custody of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office after he allegedly pulled his girlfriend’s hair during a verbal argument, then broke into her home.

On Monday morning, deputies were called to the 100 block of Mozart Drive in reference to a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a 24-year-old victim who said that she was sitting in a vehicle with Deonta Ward, 26, of Houma, when they got into a verbal altercation.

During the argument, Ward allegedly grabbed the victim’s hair and pulled it from her scalp. After a struggle, the victim got away and ran into her residence and locked the door.

Ward allegedly chased the victim down and kicked in the door to gain entry to the home and the altercation continued.

The victim attempted to spray Ward with pepper spray, but Ward allegedly knocked it from her hand and it broke.

The suspect then left the scene before deputies arrived.

Around 10:00 a.m., Ward was located and arrested.

He is charged with battery of a dating partner and home invasion. He is held on a $50,000 bond.
