A 24-year-old is in the custody of the Thibodaux Police Department after he allegedly broke into a vehicle, then evaded officers on foot.

On Wednesday morning, officers were called to the 1000 block of People Street in reference to a vehicle burglary.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a suspect was seen by witnesses in the area and that he had possibly burglarized an unsecured vehicle.

The owner of the vehicle in question advised officers that several dollars in change were missing from the vehicle, as well as a uniquely identifiable coin.

After officers processed the vehicle, the victim was in-route to TPD headquarters to follow-up with the investigation.

During that time, the victim observed and positively identified the suspect, who was allegedly wearing the same clothes as seen before the burglary.

Upon officers’ arrival, the suspect, later identified as Terrance Vicks, 24, of Thibodaux, fled the scene on foot, but was later apprehended.

Vicks allegedly refused to cooperate during questioning, but officers located several items in the suspect’s possession, including many that police believe may be stolen.

The suspect also was in possession of the identifiable coin reported stolen from the other burglary.

Vicks is charged with simple burglary and resisting an officer.

He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex where he remains on a $10,500 bond.
