Teenager to be charged as adult in vehicle burglary, weapons incident

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office and Houma Police Department have worked together to arrest a teenager on multiple felony charges.

On Sunday night at around 10:30 p.m., a TPSO K-9 lieutenant was traveling near the Village East neighborhood at around 10:30 p.m. when he observed a black Cadillac pass a red light at a high rate of speed, driving in the middle of a street and running vehicles off the road on the Houma twin span bridge.

The driver made a hard right turn onto New Orleans Boulevard, then lost control and crashed.

Three males exited the Cadillac and then ran from the scene as more TPSO deputies and also Houma Police Department officers arrived to assist.

HPD officers apprehended one juvenile, the TPSO deputy apprehended another suspect, identified as the driver, receiving help from his K-9 partner.

During initial investigation at the scene, deputies contacted the registered owner of the Cadillac by telephone at his Raceland home. He confirmed – to his surprise – that the vehicle was not in the driveway where he parked it.

During investigation, deputies observed in plain view a pistol on the Cadillac’s driver seat. After obtaining a warrant for a search of the vehicle, which was towed to a TPSO building, a search was conducted.

The pistol’s serial number had been altered.

Kelvin Davis, 17, the driver, was booked at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex after a medical checkup.

He’s charged with illegal possession of stolen things and aggravated flight, both felonies. He’s also charged with possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number and a misdemeanor charge of resisting.

Because of the nature of the charges, Davis was booked as an adult.

The 2nd suspect, a juvenile, was taken to the Terrebonne Parish Juvenile Detention Center after a medical check-up.
