Jose Nunez-Vasquez, 25, of Thibodaux was arrested on January 6 for four counts of Second Degree Rape of a single victim, Sheriff Craig Webre announced.

On Sunday, January 5, investigators opened an investigation after a woman had gone to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center after reportedly being raped.

Through investigation, detectives learned that on several occasions over the past two weeks, Nunez-Vasquez allegedly forced the woman to have sex against her will. The woman was with Nunez-Vasquez during that entire period and said she initially didn’t report the incidents out of fear of retaliation from Nunez-Vasquez.

Following an investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On Monday, January 6, Nunez-Vasquez was arrested and then booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex.

He was charged with four counts of Second Degree Rape.

He is currently being held without bail.

Due to the nature of the allegations, no further details will be released on this investigation.
