The Thibodaux Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred after 6 p.m. last night.

On Monday night around 6:20 p.m., TPD was called to the area around the 1800 block of Badt Avenue in reference to several gunshots heard in the area.

When Police arrived on the scene, a suspicious subject was seen franticly entering a vehicle, while speeding off.

Officers later stopped the vehicle and learned that a man inside, Travon Dunmiles, had been shot and was being transported to a local hospital.

Acadian Amublance Services was called to the scene to render aid and Mr. Dunmiles was taken for treatment.

The transporting vehicle was also struck by gunfire in the incident, according to TPD.

While other officers secured the crime scene in the 1800 block of Badt Avenue, it was learned that numerous uninvolved vehicles and an apartment complex were also struck by gunfire in the incident.

Thibodaux Police Detectives were called to the scene to process for evidentiary purposes. This investigation is ongoing and the Thibodaux Police Department Criminal Investigations Division has been working diligently, following every lead necessary to apprehend any and all responsible parties involved. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and is in stable condition.
