The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred last night in Village East.

TPSO’s Chief Criminal Deputy, Col. Terry Daigre said that on October 7, deputies were called shortly before 5:30 p.m. to Westwood Drive in response to a call of shots fired.

Upon arrival, authorities learned that an individual had fired shots from a passing vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that some bullets hit a structure.

No one was injured, but among the people at risk was an 83-year-old woman.

More than a dozen shell casings were recovered at the scene.

“Our detectives and road patrol deputies are actively working this investigation and developing leads,” Col. Daigre said. “Any incident like this is terrifying. But when bullets narrowly miss one of our elders, the urgency increases. I ask, that anyone with information on this case come forward.”

The Sheriff’s Office can be reached at 876-2500. Bayou Region Crime Stoppers offers a reward for information leading to arrests. They can be reached toll free at (800) 743-7433.
