Two suspects have been arrested by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office after Narcotics Task Force agents shut down what is being called a "drug operation" in Central Houma.

Chief Criminal Deputy Terry Daigre said that agents went to a residence at 1010 Morrison Avenue on Nov. 22 and spoke with the owner, Jason James Theriot, 44, in regard to a complaint received about drug activity.

Authorities got permission to enter and while there, they observed psychedelic mushrooms on top of an ice chest. When they asked Theriot for permission to conduct a search based on the discovery, they were refused. Authorities also spoke with another person at the residence, Mindy Richard, 47.

The agents then got a search warrant and conducted the search of the residence.

In all, agents recovered six pistols of various calibers, six shotguns and nine rifles, as well as a silencer and ammo. They recovered 16.52 pounds of marijuana, 117.95 grams of suspected meth, quantities of several different types of pills, including morphine, marijuana butter, loose and packaged psilocybin, $6,045 in cash and some counterfeit $1 bills. Authorities also found various scales, other measuring tools and packaging materials.

Jason Theriot and Mindy Richard were booked for: monetary instrument abuse; illegal weapons possession; multiple dangerous drug possession violations; possession of controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a firearm; controlled substance distribution; paraphernalia possession; legend drug possession and illegal proceeds derived from drug transactions. Initial bonds were set at $500,000 each.

“This is a case where an initial complaint resulted in action by our highly trained and effective agents,” Col. Daigre said. “We are grateful for that information and also grateful to the work these agents did. It represents only a small fraction of the work they are doing in neighborhoods and communities.”
