A suspect wanted for the May 15 murder of Kirby Courteaux Jr. is now in the custody of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office.
This afternoon, authorities responded to a tip that Devante Matthews was at an address on West Main Street in Grey.
Col. Terry Daigre, TPSO's Chief Criminal Deputy, said shortly around 3 p.m., deputies discovered that Matthews was, indeed, at the residence and he was taken into custody.
On May 14, TPSO began investigating the disappearance of Courteaux Jr., a Montegut native, after a family member reported him missing since May 11.
On May 15, TPSO deputies and detectives apprehended Terance Dupre, who faces a second-degree murder charge in the case. He is in custody in Lafourche Parish, as is a juvenile, who was also arrested in the case. The victim's body was found dumped in Morgan City.
Since mid-May, authorities had identified Matthews as a suspect in the case, but until today, he remained on the run.
Matthews, too, is now charged with second-degree murder.
Col. Daigre said investigation into the case is on-going.
