Applicable divisions include big game, tarpon, shoreline, inside, children’s and scuba. The event also features live music, food and a pirate costume contest. Proceeds go to the Blake Terry Memorial Foundation. Registration is $25 for adults and $10 for children.

BIG GAME VINTAGE FISHING RODEO –

Qualifying fish include all species of billfish, yellowfin, Bluefin, big-eye, blackfin tuna, wahoo, dolphin, short-fin mako shark and thresher shark. The entry fee is $3,500 per team, which can include up to six anglers.

TARPON TRIATHLON –

Aug. 3

The third annual triathlon, recognized in 2011 as a “Great Southern Race” by Competitor Magazine, benefits the Bayou Black Swim Team, which has more than 200 registered swimmers between the ages of 4 and 18. Participants swim 150 meters, bike 10 miles and run 3 miles. Registration is $50.

Capt. Walt Wilson presents highlights from his book, “James D. Bulloch: Secret Agent and Mastermind of the Confederate Navy.” The presentation covers the exploits of a renowned Confederate secret agent. Walt, a retired Navy captain and intelligence officer, served 10 years on aircraft carriers, in the Pentagon and overseas in Korea, Japan and the United Kingdom. He now resides in San Antonio. KREWE OF HERCULES FISHING RODEO –

THE ALAN KELLY CRITERIUM –


Aug. 11

First-timers, juniors, women and experts race bicycles in one of nine divisions in the event hosted by Baou Country Cyclists and the Green Team. Race lengths range from 15 minutes to an hour, and prizes are given out in each division. Registration is $35, and all racers must have a USAC-Road license. RUN 4 THE HEALTH OF IT RACE SERIES –

The second annual fundraiser series features race distances of 2 miles, 5K, 10K and 15K, with one race each month through December. Competitors in all four races are eligible to win awards.
