Billboard’s Top 5
The week was April 4, 1964, and The Beatles were hot. Billboard’s Top 100 singles included a dozen songs by the Fab Four. More amazingly, John, Paul, George and Ringo held the Top 5 positions.

Toenails or Tonsils
BBC announcer Roy Williams reported on air that Ringo Starr had his toenails removed. He later corrected the mixup, noting the drummer’s tonsils had been taken out. “I misread the item,” he said of the faux pas. “It happens to all of us, and I bet Ringo is glad I’m not his surgeon.”
8 Minutes; 14 Words
“I Want You (She’s So Heavy),” off the aforementioned “Abbey Road” album, clocks in at eight minutes. The total number of words used during those eight minutes: 14. And six of those are in the title!
Famous Last Words
The Fab Four recorded 15 tracks during their Decca audition. They were told guitar groups were on the way out, and sent packing. Instead, Decca hired the Tremoloes, a local (cheaper) band. The decision is probably the single worst choice in history!
Jelly Baby Battle
George Harrison was once hit in the eye with a Jelly Baby during a performance.
The guitarist told an interviewer that he liked Jelly Babies, leading fans to pelt the band onstage – sweets for their sweets. Ultimately, Harrison wrote a fan asking her to stop.
