Le Petit Theatre de Terrebonne, Thibodaux Playhouse, Inc. and the Iberia Performing Arts League have announced their full 2012-13 theater seasons, which are listed below.

“9 to 5: The Musical” by Patricia Resnick and music by Dolly Parton – An overworked office manager, a jilted wife, and an objectified secretary take girl power to another level as they conspire to depose of their smarmy boss. Based on Dolly Parton’s 1980 hit movie. July 12-29


“The Best Man” by Gore Vidal – Two presidential candidate front-runners fight for the party’s nomination through all the typical politician antics. Sept. 13-23

“Coming Apart” by Fred Carmichael – The married Kittridges open the show simultaneously saying, “I want a divorce!” Both are justifiably arrogant because Colin is a successful humor columnist and Frances an equally successful romance novelist, and revelations throughout the play lead to a happy ending. Nov. 8-18


“Secondary Cause of Death” by Peter Gordon – In the sequal to 2010’s Murdered to Death, the inept Inspector Pratt is called to Bagshot house a few years later to track down a murderer on the loose. Pratt fumbles through the search for the culprit as bodies continue to pile up with doppelgangers, frauds and Nazi’s all out to get him. Feb. 21 – March 3, 2013


“Rounding Third” by Richard Dresser – Don’s son is the star pitcher. New-comer Michael agrees to be Don’s assistant because he wants a special activity with his son, who’s never played baseball before. Michael thinks the coaches should ensure everyone has a good time while savings the kids from the pressure to win, and Don wants to win at all costs. April 2013

“The Mousetrap” by Agatha Christie – A group of strangers, one of whom is a murderer, are stranded in a boarding home during a snowstorm. When a police officer joins the group, he interrogates each individual, which stirs up trouble. Oct. 19-28


“Barefoot in the Park” by Neil Simon – The Bratters are newlyweds who, over the course of a few days, must learn to live as a “couple” through the usual trials of marriage. When the couple attempts to play matchmaker with the Corie’s loopy mother, everyone in the group must gain some spontaneity to, for example, run “barefoot in the park.” Jan. 18-27, 2013

“God of Carnage” by Yasmina Reza – A playground altercation between two 11-year-old boys brings their parents together to discuss the matter in a civilized manner. As the meeting progresses, tension begins to flow and the evening turns into chaos. April 5-14, 2013


“Little Shop of Horrors” by Howard Ashman with music and lyrics by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman – A nerdy floral assistant becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers a mysterious plant with the craving for fresh blood. “Audrey II” becomes an ill-tempered carnivore, who offers its keeper fame in exchange for food for its growing appetite. July 18-28, 2013

Iberia Performing Arts League


“Disney’s Mulan”- IPAL’s Summer Youth Theater Production runs from July 12-22.


“Remember When Again” by Jim Wyche – The sequel to 2010’s “Remember When” includes Folk, Motown, Rock, Hippie and other music of the 1960s with IPAL’s live band “The Berry Classics.” The plot involves plans to tear down a “1950s-style” soda shop to put up a parking lot. Aug. 16-26

“Lilies of the Field” by Andrew Leslie – An adaptation of a 1963 Academy Award-winning movie, the play is based on a semi-biographical novel by William Edmund Barrett in which a black itinerant worker encounters a group of East German Catholic nuns who believe he was sent by God to help them build a new chapel. Oct. 18-28

“A Christmas Story” by Philip Grecian – Based on the popular movie, Ralphie wants a Red Ryder BB gun more than anything for Christmas. As he is met with “You’ll shoot your eye out,” Ralphie creates various schemes to convince his parents the gun is what he needs. Dec. 6-16

“Man of La Mancha” by Dale Wasserman, music by Mitch Leigh, and lyrics by Joe Darion – Based on the Spanish novel “Don Quixote” by Cervantes, the show urges people to “Dream the Impossible Dream.” March 7-24, 2013

“See How they Run” by Philip King – A classic British farce set during World War II with multiple cases of mistaken identities and raucous chases through an English Vicar’s house, it is sure to provide lots of laughs. May 30 – June 9, 2013

Tech Theatre

“I Ought to be in Pictures” by Neil Simon – Herbert Tucker, who abandoned his New York family 16 years ago, is a struggling, screenwriter with writer’s block. His daughter Libby arrives convinced that he can give her a ticket to stardom. Libby not only forces Herb to deal with the responsibilities of parenthood, but also define the relationship with his on-again, off-again girlfriend Steffy. November
