Love poetry? Appreciate reading poetry and willing to share your writing with others?

The Terrebonne Parish North Branch Library in Gray has the ideal opportunity.

On Nov. 3, beginning at 6:30 p.m., the library is hosting Poet’s Cafe Night. The community is invited to read a favorite poem, share an original work, or come and listen.

Staffer Rachel LeCompte said the library hosted similar events in the past, poetry readings and sidewalk chalk writing during Poetry Week. And based on feedback and interest in the genre, decided to revisit Poet’s Cafe Night.

“There is such an interest, especially among teens,” LeCompte said. “We’re hoping attendance is high. If we discover a core group interested in continuing with a poetry night, we’ll definitely look into it.”

Visitors will also get a look at the Terrebonne Library system’s newest branch. “The North Branch is our newest building,” LeCompte said. “It’s a beautiful branch. We’re hosting Poet’s Cafe Night in Gray so people can enjoy events over there, too.”

Refreshments will be served at the outing.
