What do you get when you add eight stages of non-stop, top name music acts, south Louisiana’s top cuisine, carnival rides and games and arts and crafts packed into the downtown area one community?

The Gretna Heritage Festival, one of the West Bank’s top events 17 years running.

Twenty-five city blocks in downtown Gretna close Oct. 7-9 to make way for this year’s event.

The festival is known for its stellar musical lineup, and this year’s showcase is no exception.

Lynyrd Skynyrd, Sara Evans, Tracy Lawrence, Grand Funk Railroad, Molly Hatchet, Brian Howe, Galactic, Cowboy Mouth, Hunter Hayes, blues legends Bybby Rush, TK Soul, Sonny Landreth and many more are slated to perform.

“We’re tremendously excited about this year’s event,” said Anthony Buckley III, president of the city’s Economic Development Association.

“There will be so much to do, see, hear and taste. And it’s all for a very good cause …”

Proceeds from the event help a number of charities at the local, state and national level.

Added to this year’s festivities is the all-new Louisiana Seafood Pavilion, which offers a huge assortment of dishes.

The German Beer Garden and Italian Village also make a return.

A free shuttle with free parking from Westside Shopping Center, Oakwood Center and behind Academy Sporting Goods runs to the festival grounds.

Also, a free pedestrian ferry ride from the Canal Street Ferry Dock to the Gretna Ferry Landing is available.
