Terrebonne General Medical Center is doing its best to unite generations of people who were born decades apart.

The hospital has its Intergenerational Therapy program, which was implemented to unite younger students with older patients who are undergoing rehabilitation services through recreational activities.

The students empathized with the patients’ physical limitations, such as being in a wheelchair, while both parties learned about one another through completing activities and games together.

These personal connections resulted in enhanced socialization, increased emotional support and improved the overall health for the patients involved.

TGMC said the program was a success and it will return next summer.
