THIBODAUX, Tyler Charles Morvant Earns the Rank of Eagle Scout

The highest award obtainable from the Boy Scouts of America organization will be presented to an 18-year-old of Thibodaux. Tyler Charles Morvant will receive the Eagle Award in a Court of Honor presentation at the Knights of Columbus Hall on St. Patrick Hwy in Thibodaux.

Tyler C. Morvant, the son of Scott and Angela Morant, receives the award after earning 24 merit badges and completing his service project of building park benches for the City of Thibodaux.

The E. D. White High School senior advanced through all ranks of Scouting as a member of Troop 458 of Knights of Columbus 1114.  Troop 458 has been making a difference in our community for over 40 years  Tyler Charles Morvant has held several offices including Senior and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader.

Also a member of E. D. White Cross Country team, Tyler has received the 9th place All State Medal.

The fact that a boy is an Eagle Scout has always carried with it a special significance, not only in Scouting but also as he enters higher education, business or industry, and community service. The award is a performance-based achievement whose standards have been well maintained over the years. Not every boy who joins a Boy Scout troop earns the Eagle Scout rank; only about 5 percent of all Boy Scouts do so. This represents more than 1.7 million Boy Scouts who have earned the rank since 1912. Nevertheless, the goals of Scouting—citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness—remain important for all Scouts, whether or not they attain the Eagle Scout rank.

The Bayou District is a geographic area of the Southeast Louisiana Council, Boy Scouts of America. The Council, founded in 1924, provides character education through high outdoor adventure to young men, and women, throughout its 11 parishes. The mission of the Boy Scouts is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The Southeast Louisiana Council, Boy Scouts of America salutes Tyler Charles Morvant for his great achievement! For more information on Scouting visit bsa-selacouncil.org or call 504.889.0388.
