Dear Editor,

I was reading with interest an article by Tom Aswell entitled “CNS Analysis: University merger scenario may be near” when I found that LSU Shreveport has once again been relegated to junior college status! In reality, LSUS was granted the status of a four-year degree granting institution in 1972, with our first baccalaureate degrees awarded in May 1975.

In addition to offering 37 different baccalaureate degrees, we also offer master’s degree in areas of education, business, health administration, liberal arts, psychology, human services administration, computer systems technology, kinesiology and wellness, and public health as well as a specialist degree in school psychology.

We are the only public four-year institution in Shreveport, Louisiana’s third largest metropolitan area, behind New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

Please visit us online at LSUS.edu.

David Gustavson,

Dean, College of Business,

Education & Human Development, LSU Shreveport
