Houma will be filled with people and pups competing in the 4th annual 5K.

Friends of Terrebonne Animal Shelter are hosting their 4th annual 5K-9 run/walk, Saturday, March 7. Next to the Courtyard Marriott on Library Drive, registration will be $25 for the Run/Walk and $20 for the half mile.

“It’s a dog friendly event where you can come out, bring your dog, you can run or walk with your pet,” said Rachel Brunet, the President of the Friends of Terrebonne Animal Shelter. “The purpose of the event is to raise awareness for spade and neuter, the animal shelter, [and] the care of animals.”

Winners receive a ribbon with the Friends of Terrebonne Animal Shelter logo on it.

Along with the race, there will be a veterinarian present to give Rabies vaccinations, $10, and to microchip, $15, dogs. Also rescue groups will have pets up for adoption.

There will be food and music present. The music will be provided by DJ AK Sounds.

Proceeds from the event go towards the Terrebonne Animal Shelter.
