General Observations from St. Joseph Catholic Church:

” 1) The purpose of the Boat Blessing is to ask God to give us a successful and safe season; not to displease God or our neighbor with bad behavior.

2) Please dress properly, especially as the lead boat passes, for the blessing. When your boat is blessed it is very appropriate to make the sign of the cross or perhaps kneel. Please do not raise
beer cans at this time.
3) Do not litter the bayou. Bring a garbage can on board.
4) Do not go against the traffic in bayou. Water traffic control will be enforced.
5) Be cooperative with the law enforcement agents.
6) At times the Boudreaux Canal Bridge may have to open for vehicle traffic; boat captains and riders should be patient & cooperative during these times.
7) Do not throw articles from the boat to your friends on shore. “
