Friends of Bayou Lafourche alongside its community partners celebrated the completion of the Nicholls Bayou-Side Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday along the beautiful Bayou Lafourche.

Nicholls Bayou-Side Park is part of the many plans Friends of Bayou Lafourche has had in order to make Bayou Lafourche all it can be to serve as a top-notch asset to the community. The endeavor is a cooperative project signed with Nicholls State University in December of 2017. They wanted to collaborate with Nicholls to establish a program with an emphasis on faculty, staff, student, and public recreation. They were able to acquire funding from Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou to lock in a landscape architecture team with local business Duplantis Design Group to design a master plan. They held meetings not only with community key stakeholders but also Nicholls administration, faculty, staff, and student leaders so that the project represented the community as a whole. Despite setbacks due to COVID, a more than usual wet Spring, then Hurricane Ida, they were still able to move the project forward!
