A Fresh Perspective

While preserving the traditional exterior of their home, homeowners John and Kathy Sirois focused their attention on revealing the features of their 1974 home with a fresh perspective. Dark trim and cabinetry, outdated wallpaper and carpeting gave way to a light color palette. Old lighting fixtures were updated with custom lighting by Julie Neill Designs and Niermann Weeks. Artwork on display is primarily by New Orleans artist Tony Mose of Esom Gallery, as well as a collection of antique paintings acquired over the years.

Since 2010 the couple has enjoyed finding treasures for the house while antiquing. “We buy things we love that complement the style of the house,” shares Kathy.

John and Kathy execute their traditional style with European accents by furnishing their space with 18th and 19th century French antiques found in the New Orleans area to create a unique and collected decor.

Cathedral ceilings in the 1,000 square foot great room, complete with wall-to-wall windows, overlook a wooded backyard. John and Kathy utilize the living area for reading and relaxing as well as for entertaining and large gatherings. Natural light floods the space revealing a twelve foot wet bar on one side, living area on the other and a wood burning fireplace in the middle.

Whether sitting on the front porch swing in the late afternoons or enjoying the great room view, the classic design of this beautiful home is both charming and timeless. POV
