Terrebonne Parish Main Library is excited to have on display “Determined to Rise: The Woman’s Suffrage Movement in Louisiana,” a traveling exhibit developed by the Centennial Women’s Suffrage Project at Southeastern Louisiana University with grant support from the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities.

“Determined to Rise” celebrates the women’s suffrage movement in Louisiana in honor of the 100th anniversary of ratification of the 19th amendment. The exhibit includes eight panels that depict photos of Louisiana suffragists, a timeline of events, the African-American woman’s perspective, and more. A TV is on display to share videos and panel discussions on the suffrage movement. Also included is a guest book for patron reflections and a suffragette costume and mannequin.

The exhibit will be on display at the Main Library from January 5 to January 15.
