Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) announced Richard “Dicky” Haydel, M.D., as the recipient of the Golden Stethoscope Award.

The prestigious Golden Stethoscope Award is designed to publicly recognize a TGMC physician for his or her exceptional level of professionalism, integrity and teamwork in caring for patients and families, as well as interacting with hospital staff members and other physicians. The program asks for nominations from physicians, employees, patients, and volunteers, and recognizes two physicians a year.

“It is a privilege to announce Dr. Dicky Haydel as a recipient of the Golden Stethoscope Award. Since 1971, almost 50 years, he has provided outstanding care to his patients,” said Phyllis Peoples, president and CEO. “Dr. Dicky Haydel’s commitment to his patients and his practice has led to generations of family members trusting him for their healthcare needs. He is a valued member of the TGMC family and it is an honor to present him with this recognition.”

He has mastered the art of medicine and has a gift of making each patient feel very special. He always shows up to work with a smile and has a sincere interest in each person he meets.

“I was shocked, surprised and it was totally unexpected to find out I was the recipient of the Golden Stethoscope Award,” said Dr. Dicky Haydel. “Coming to work, taking care of patients and watching them get better is so very rewarding to me. People ask me when I am going to retire but coming to work every day is like being on vacation. It is not a job. It is what I enjoy doing and it is a lot of fun.”
