The Terrebonne Parish Health Unit will host an open house from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2023. The address is 600 Polk St. in Houma.
Area residents are invited to stop by and enjoy complimentary refreshments, get free health screenings and immunizations and to meet our medical team. The event is free to attend and open to the public.
Health unit staff will be on hand to answer questions about the many services available at the health unit. While there guests can get their blood pressure checked and get vaccinated for flu and COVID-19. Also, car seat checks will be offered from 9 am to 2 pm..
“This is a great opportunity to meet the clinical staff who work daily to improve the health of people in our community,” said Eric Brooks, MD, regional medical director. “New visitors are often surprised by the wide variety of health services available to them at little or no cost.”
Similar open houses are scheduled at all area health units in the next two months. Services available at the Terrebonne Parish Health Unit include:
- Vaccinations including COVID-19, flu and HPV
- Pregnancy testing
- Testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections
- Birth control
- Well-woman exams including Pap smears and referrals for mammograms
