RESOURCE CENTER

Welcome to Hospice of South Louisiana

Hospice of South Louisiana has been a pioneer and leader of Hospice care in Louisiana since 1987.

As the longest running Hospice company in the state, HSL remains in the forefront providing a team of experienced health care professionals which includes Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Social Workers, and Chaplains. These professionals work together with the patient and their families to provide physical, emotional and spiritual care to ensure the best quality of life for terminally ill patients.

Hospice is Palliative Care

When you are faced with a diagnosis that cannot be cured and will progressively get worse, there is a choice. You can continue to seek a cure by going back to the doctor and the hospital or you choose hospice care. Care that can best be described as medical care focusing on pain management and symptom control that is available to you in the comfort of your own home. This includes medications, medical equipment and medical supplies related to your diagnosis. Patients who reside in Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities, and Personal Care homes can also receive this care. The goal of Hospice care is for you to be pain free and to have your symptoms controlled. We also provide emotional support for you and your family as well.

Our Medical Director and your physician collaborate with you and your caregiver/family to provide enhanced medical and emotional care to help you meet your goal of a better quality of life.

We Honor Veterans
We are proud to be a member of the We Honor Veterans program, a pioneering program focused on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgment. By recognizing the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families, community providers, in partnership with VA staff, will learn how to accompany and guide them through their life stories toward a more peaceful ending.
