A Gibson man and two women were jailed Monday in connection with the shooting death of a lower Lafourche Parish resident, whose body was dumped on a lonely stretch of a Cocodrie highway.

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said it is believed 22-year-old Sergio Castellano, of Cut Off, was the victim of a robbery Sunday. Castellano was identified, said Capt. Dawn Foret of the Sheriff’s Office, through fingerprints given to federal customs officers.

Ciegie Cheramie, 25, of Mississippi, Troy Jackson, 26, of 4774 N. Bayou Black Drive and Brandy Perdue, 18, of 274 Meadows Drive in Destrehan, were all booked on charges of first-degree murder and robbery in connection with Castellano’s death.

According to Larpenter, the trio met Castellano at the New Horizons bar on La. Highway 182 Saturday night. He left the bar with them, headed for Jackson’s Gibson home but was shot en route, according to the synopsis officials provided.

Jackson, Larpenter said, shot Castellano.

Deputies were alerted through a telephone call Sunday that a woman matching Cheramie’s description was driving a truck with a body in it.

Foret, when questioned about the investigation, would not say whether the body was in the cab of the truck or the bed.

Deputies apprehended Cheramie on La. Highway 56 in Chauvin, and later learned that the body had been left near Bayou Sale Road, near the Dulac end of the twisty, marsh-side two-lane.

Cheramie was booked Sunday.

Jackson and Perdue were apprehended in St. Charles Parish Monday, at the home of Perdue’s mother. Detectives questioned them and then arrested them.

Jackson, who according to neighbors was living in a trailer on North Bayou Black Drive, has in the past been booked for simple battery, and is also a registered sex offender according to information in law enforcement databases.

The investigation, Foret said, is continuing.
