Terrebonne Parish officials say they don’t know yet when power will be restored in Houma, following damage to electrical lines that service a main city utility station.

The Terrebonne Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness issued a statement at around 7 pmannouncing the outage.

“A marine vessel has pulled down the main electrical line from Entergy to the City of Houma power plant,” the official statement reads.  “Entergy and the Parish are currently working on diverting power from the Coteau sub-station to the power plant in Houma. We are currently trying to determine a time frame on getting power back to the city power plant at this time and will provide updates and information via Facebook as we get further information.”

Police dispatch and other emergency services are running on auxiliary power.

An official who was not authorized to publicly speak said the vessel was a jackup barge.

That information could not be officially confirmed.
