Tropical Storm Barry has become Hurricane Barry.
In the National Hurricane Center’s 10 a.m. advisory, the storm became a Category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 75 miles per hour.
The storm will make landfall in the next 3-4 hours. It’s moving northwest at 6 mph.
The Hurricane distinction does not change local impacts from Barry.
Our area will still see winds and rains throughout Saturday and into Sunday.
The faster movement speed is good for the area to flush the storm out and allow recovery to begin.
