Louisiana Cajun Bayou Tourism and Thibodaux Main Street invite you to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Big Boy’s Main Street Cook-off! The cook-off will take place Friday, Nov 12, from 4:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. in Historic Downtown Thibodaux.

Big Boy’s Main Street Cook-Off is a culinary showcase of Cajun cuisine prepared by 33 teams in the culturally rich setting of Historic Downtown Thibodaux. One of the three official “Up the Bayou” festivals and events of Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou Food Trail, the cook-off embodies an unapologetically Cajun lifestyle and celebrates the cultural identity of Thibodaux and Lafourche Parish.

Executive Director of Thibodaux Main Street Danielle Stine says the committee looks forward to celebrating its 20th anniversary with the community. “We’re excited to finally be back, last year due to covid we couldn’t have the event so we’re excited to come back and celebrate the 20th anniversary. We had the event for so long and people truly love it. The teams get excited, they love to come out and compete and I think people are so ready for that, to get back to being around people again to celebrate.”

Celebrants will enjoy samples of Louisiana-inspired dishes like smoked gator tacos, pastalaya, crawfish egg rolls, and tur-duck-en gumbo. In addition to great food, guests will enjoy live music by Nonc Nu & Da Wild Matous!

Stine says the event will be a great release to the Thibodaux community following the impact of Hurricane Ida “People down South we like hanging out with people. We’re hospitable people; we like to be around family and friends so I think this is a good kick-off to getting back to that sense of normalcy just before the holidays.”

Admission is $10 (cash only – children 10 and under are free) and includes samples from cook-off participants (while supplies last); burgers and drinks will also be sold.
