The Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary Foundation hosted its annual White Boot Gala for the first time since 2019, garnering an outpouring of support from the community and local businesses. The gala took place on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Spahr’s Seafood in Des Allemands, as a fundraising effort for BTNEP preservation and restoration efforts. Guests enjoyed a live auction, networking opportunities, delicious food, philanthropy and  live music by Cajun Music Preservation Society.

After a two-year hiatus, the gala returned with a bang, selling out tickets and raising $7,500 to benefit the growth of BTNEP’s National Estuary Foundation, a program created to protect and restore water quality and ecological integrity of estuaries of national significance. BTNEP released a statement, expressing gratitude for the support of the community and event sponsors. “Thank you to the foundation, to all who made this evening possible, and most importantly, to all who attended,” said BTNEP.

Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program partners with local businesses, conservation organizations, government agencies, scientists, and agricultural interest groups, for the preservation, protection, and restoration of the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program in Southeast Louisiana. BTNEP’s mission is to preserve and store the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program estuarine system, and the 4.2 million-acre region between the Atchafalaya and Mississippi Rivers.

The 2022 White Gala was made possible through the sponsorship of various community organizations and local businesses, including Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, Friends of Bayou Lafourche, Bayou Lafourche Water District, Clean Solutions 365 LLC, Hilary Thibodaux of Stantect, Kristina Peterson of Lowlanders, Leslie Suazo of Ducks Unlimited, Judge John Weimer, Tim Allen, Nolan Falgout, Laynie Barrilleaux, and Delaina Leblanc.
