CASA of Lafourche will sell raffle tickets for a “Home Sweet Home” playhouse through the month of November.

“Our organization has been independent since 2009, and we are trying to establish a fundraiser that would be exciting and that members of the community could get involved in,” said CASA of Lafourche Executive Director Tammy Gibson. “We have two major fundraisers each year, and the playhouse raffle is one of them.”

Proceeds from the Dec. 1 raffle will help support community volunteers who want to become advocates for abused and neglected children in Lafourche Parish.

“The theme for this year’s playhouse, Home Sweet Home, was chosen because we want to find a home sweet home for children in foster care,” she said. “There are more than 100 Lafourche Parish children in foster care.”

This is the second year the CASA will host the raffle, and Gibson is hoping the organization sells 3,000 tickets, which would more than double last year’s count of 1,300.

“The playhouse will be different every year,” she said. “We hire a different builder every year because we never want it to look the same. Last year’s raffle was very successful.”

This year’s playhouse, funded by a $2,500 donation from South Coast Gas Company, was built by Comfort Zone Investment Properties.

“The management and staff of South Coast Gas are in full support of the mission of CASA, and it is more than evident that they hold a strong compassion for the abused and neglected children of our parish,” Gibson said. “We are so grateful for their devoted support.”

The playhouse features solar lantern lights, a porch, shelves, furniture, a ladder and upper nook, carpet and a chalkboard wall.

“We are very excited about all the features,” Gibson added.

Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the CASA of Lafourche in Thibodaux, South Coast Gas Company in Raceland, the Lafourche Gazette, Kief ‘s Hardware in Cut Off, Airport Barber Shop in Houma, Shop-in-Bag on West Park Avenue in Houma, Twilla’s Beauty Shop in Chackbay, Tres’ Bella Salon in Houma and Doug’s Refrigeration in Thibodaux. The drawing will be hosted at Thibodaux Service League’s Santa’s Land. Ticket holders do not need to be present to win.

CASA of Lafourche will sell raffle tickets for this “Home Sweet Home” playhouse through the month of November. The raffle is one of the organinzation’s two major fundraisers each year.
